York University was founded in 1959. The main campus consists of some 600 acres at the northern edge of Metropolitan Toronto. Today with a student population of over 44,000, York University is one of Canada's most popular universities, ranking third largest in the country. More than 1,200 full-time faculty members in 10 Faculties and 13 research units and programmes, have made a name for York University both in Canada and abroad for research and scholarship of the finest calibre. Research activities, as measured by the level of funding, the number of grants, and various awards, continue to expand at a rapid rate.

In Fall 2001 we moved to the new Computer Science building (see here for a history of the construction). See York University's Map Server to locate the CSB within the campus (just east of the Steacie Science Library, and north of the Curtis Lecture Hall).

A list of previous chairs of the department can be found here.
