[1] This requirement may not
necessitate the taking of an "extra" course: for example, if a student majors
in Anthropology (Area II) and takes a Humanities course at any level (Area I),
they have satisfied the breadth requirement. Note: Mathematics, Computer
Science, Physical Education and 1000-level college courses do not satisfy this
requirement, unless they are cross-listed with a unit in Area I or Area II.
[2] In exceptional circumstances some prerequisites or
corequisites may be waived at the discretion of the undergraduate director in
consultation with the course director. All petitions to have pre- and
corequisites waived must be submitted to the undergraduate office. Course
directors may not waive prerequisites.
