Scheduled TA Office Hours

Hi all, the TA will hold office hours as follows:

Tues, Sept 27, 2pm
Wed, Sept 28, 11am

The office hours will be held in CSE1002 (if it is booked for another class, then the office hours will take place in CSE1006).
You can come and get any questions you have answered and/or review your answer from labtest00.

Need Extra Help?

If you would like some extra help, please don't hesitate to take up the DMSA on their generous offer for free peer mentoring and tutoring.

The Digital Media Students Association (DMSA) is a group of friendly students who want to help their program colleagues.

See their webpage at http://www.dmstudents.ca/ (still under construction, tho).

They invited the class of CSE1710 to email them for help - send your request to help@dmstudents.ca

Study Group Change

From Today's Lecture

Meaghan's study group will now meet at 11am on Wednesdays instead of 2:30pm due to scheduling conflict in CSEB1002.

Zach's study group is still on:
Mondays, 11am, CSEB1002 (pending confirmation that there is no conflict)

Remember - you don't need to be invited - just show up, introduce yourself and start discussing.

If anyone else wants to form a study group, please let me know and I'll post an announcement.

How to Import Lecture Examples

How to Import and Run Lecture Examples

  1. Locate and download the desired archive file of lecture examples
  2. Create a project for these examples (if one does not exist already)
  3. Select File -> Import. Select "Archive File" under the "General" Category and select "Next"
  4. For the "From archive file" field, navigate to and select the file from step 1
  5. For the "Into folder" field, ensure the desired project is selected (if not, fix this) [the default value is whichever project is highlighted during step 3]
  6. Select "Finish"

Now these lecture examples will be brought into the specified project and can be invoked in ay number of ways (e.g., Run->Run As->Java Application)

Digital Media BA Program Orientation (Update)

Important Announcement (Update)

There will be a Digital Media Orientation Session on Monday, Sept 12th at 12:30-2:00, location CSEB 3033.
The Program co-ordinators will present some key information about the program.
The Digital Media Student Association will make a presentation about their activities.

Come out and meet your fellow Digital Media students!

Regarding the Week#1 Lab (applies to all sections LAB01, LAB02, LAB03)

The first lab session of term is typically challenging to conduct since it requires that students first obtain their cse***** account, which can be time-consuming (e.g, eat up most of the lab session time).
So here is a compromise:

  • The instructions for the Week#1 Lab can be found here.
  • The lab must be completed in CSEB1002 and it must be completed prior to the lecture on Tuesday Sept 13th.
  • Ossama, one of the TAs will be in the lab during the regularly slotted times to provide assistance, if needed. But if you like, you may complete the lab on your own time.
  • The hours of operation for the lab CSE1002 can be found here: http://www.cse.yorku.ca/prism/hours.html (please note that on this page the Digital Media lab is being called the Maxwell lab)
  • If you have any questions about the lab, please ask Ossama during one of the labs.
