Young
people's fascination with science and engineering not alway begins with a yet
another electronic gadget that appears on the consumer market. Behind every scientific
and engineering work, there is the professional curiosity of the researchers,
designers, and developers, there are the fascination with the technological and
scientific heritage, stimulating challenges and intellectually rewarding solutions
and discoveries. All of that can motivate and inspire young Canadians to achieve
the level of professional expertise that would allow them to follow in the foot
steps of Canadian pioneers in computer science and engineering.
YUCoM
is a unique Canadian organization whose aim is, besides the preservation of the
artifacts of the Canadian computing industry, the popularization of the Canadian
computing heritage. Through its YUCoM for Schools activities, YUCoM intends to
encourage more high-school graduates to aspire to a university degree in computer
science and computer engineering.
