  • Important: The Computer Science Department drop-deadline for the course is July 31 2006. Students wishing to drop the course before this deadline will have to petition to "drop late" because as far as the registrars office is concerned, the drop deadline has passed (they treated the course as D2 - see registrars office).  Of course, the petition will have the support of the department and of myself as well and will be approved under these circumstances.  However, after this drop-deadline, the petition will not have the support of the department.  The results of your mid-term test will be available on or before the drop-deadline.
  • Check the "FAQ" link periodically for answers to any questions regarding the assignments or any other course related matters.
  • A pdf version of the exercise one questions can be found in the "Assignments" link or by following this link.

  • I have updated today's (July 18) lecture notes to account for the material we did not cover in the lecture (e.g., removed the slides from the original lecture notes that we did not have a chance to cover during today's lecture).
  • We will spend several minutes during tomorrow's (July 20) lecture to revisit the dynamic vs. static scope example we discussed during today's lecture.  I may have went over part of it "too quickly".  We can also look at further similar examples.
Tuesday, July 18 2006
  • You can download a copy (PDF) of Chapter One from of your textbook from the publisher free of charge (just in case you have not purchased/received the textbook yet!)
  • I have placed a copy of the course textbook in the Steacie Library reserve.  You can sign the book out for a two hour period.  It should be available tomorrow, at which point you can go to the Steacie Library front counter and ask for the following book:
    • Programming Language Pragmatics 2nd edition.  Michael, L. Scott
    • Course 3301 Summer 2006
    • Call Number: QA 76.7 S38 2006
  • I have updated today's (July 18) lecture notes to account for the material we did not cover in the lecture (e.g., removed the slides from the original lecture notes that we did not have a chance to cover during today's lecture).  I will generally perform similar updated after each lecture so that the lecture notes always reflect the material we covered in the lecture.
  • Keep in mind that you are also responsible for any material that we cover in the lecture but that is not on the lecture notes!
Monday, July 17 2006
  • As discussed during today's lecture, the mid-term test will be held on Thursday, July 27 2006 during our regularly scheduled lecture period.  The test will not cover the entire lecture period (probably half the period).
Sunday, July 16 2006
  • Lecture notes for Monday's lecture (July 17) are now available via the "Lectures" link.
Wednesday, July 12 2006
  • Welcome to CSE 3301!  First lecture  will be  Monday, July 17 2006.
