Course Overview

This course is an introduction to Digital Image Processing.

Course description (taken from the 2005-2006 post-secondary calendar):

Building on the knowledge of basic digital signal processing, this course covers techniques of digital image processing. An introduction to image coordinate systems and projections is followed by a study of two-dimensional digital filtering. Algorithms associated with edge detection, contours, texture, shading, and depth are studied in detail. Applications in the imaging software industry are explored, along with applications in machine vision and computer graphics. In the lab, image acquisition and processing are performed using LabVIEW / IMAQ and MATLAB.

Course Prerequisites:
  • ELIC612 – DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING
